Symptoms are our body's way to communicate that something needs to change

Injury & Pain
A highly effective drug-free alternative for back pain, headaches and musculoskeletal complaints. A number of studies have reported that chiropractic care is as effective as, if not more effective than, traditional medical management for patients with spine pain. So if you are experiencing the following symptoms, it is a good idea to get assessed by a chiropractor:

-
Low back pain
-
Sciatica
-
Headache
-
Neck pain
-
Arm and shoulder pain

Cervicogenic headaches often originate from the neck due to an imbalance in the spine, muscles, and nerves (1). Medication may reduce the pain but it often doesn’t solve the underlying problem. Studies have shown that chiropractic care can improve migraines and cervicogenic headaches (2). A 2019 study also showed that chiropractic was more effective than mobilization and exercises for cervicogenic headaches (3). 8 out of 10 adults experience back pain at some point in their lives(1). A large 2018 study showed that the addition of chiropractic care to usual medical care resulted in significant improvements in low back pain intensity, disability and satisfaction. They also reported a significant reduction in pain medication use in the group that received chiropractic care (2). Other commonly seen conditions are: whiplash injury, leg and knee pain, scoliosis, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc.

PREGNANCY
During pregnancy, a woman’s body must undergo a number of different changes to accommodate the growing baby. Due to the weight that is gained, a mother’s center of gravity moves from its natural position, shifting to the front of her pelvis. This can add stress and discomfort to the lower back and various joints in the pelvis. It may lead to difficulty performing daily routines such as dressing or working and can create complications during labor. There are safe, gentle and effective specialised techniques your chiropractor can use during pregnancy so that you can:

-
Be as strong and balanced as possible to carry the pregnancy.
-
Give your baby a better chance of being in the optimal position for birthing.
-
Assure optimal biomechanics of the hips and spine in hope of decreasing
labour time & reducing the need for intervention during the birth process. -
Reduce aches and pains associated with an increased load on your body.
Research shows that 75% of pregnant patients who received chiropractic care during their pregnancies stated that they found relief from pain. (1) (6) A review of statistics reported that primigravida women who seek chiropractic care throughout gestation have a 25% shorter labor time and multiparous women who seek chiropractic care throughout their pregnancy have a 31% shorter labor time. (2)(3) Continued chiropractic care after birth may also be beneficial in assisting the proper restoration of normal spinal biomechanics. (7)

SENIOR
Many people put aches, pains, dizziness and balance disorders down to “just getting older”. However, chiropractic has been shown to improve these conditions, and reduce the risk of falls which often leads to debilitating immobility (Holt et al, 2012; Holt et al, 2016).

An ability to maintain an active lifestyle is a key driver of health and vitality and warding off disease and ill-health in our senior population (McPhee et al, 2016). Regular chiropractic care can allow you to keep active, so you can enjoy your retirement doing all the things you love.

A key part of healthy aging is to be able to maintain:
-
Flexibility
-
Movement
-
Balance
-
Energy

A large study of 12,170 people found that over 1 year, chiropractic care significantly reduced the decline in the everyday activities, including the ability to walk, dress, bath and lift objects. The group that received chiropractic care was also overall more satisfied with their follow-up care, the information provided to them regarding their conditions and rated their health better than their medical-only care counterpart (Weigel et al., 2014).

CHILDREN
Much like you and I, children experience stressors as they go about day-to-day life, which have an impact on the natural function of their bodies. While their stressors may be different to those of an adult: playground and sports accidents, academic stress and too much time on an Ipad; their body will process those stressors in much the same way yours does, and spinal misalignments may result as your child tries to innately adapt. Signals that your child's nervous system might not be functioning optimally include:

-
Poor posture
-
'Growing pain'
-
Decrease sleep
-
Difficulty regulating their mood
-
Difficulty concentrating

During childhood the entire body is still rapidly developing and growing. Left unchecked these stressors may have an accumulative impact on how a child’s body functions both in specific regions and as a whole. If you want to help your child's body function at its best, a visit to your family chiropractor is a fantastic way to start.

BABIES
Movement, sensations and experiences in the first few years of life are paramount for brain development and building neural connections. Functional restrictions, imbalances or distortions to the delicate spinal tissue can have lasting consequences for optimal nerve system growth. Chiropractors who see newborns, infants and children have undertaken specific training and modify their techniques to be suitable for these most precious patients. It is a good idea to have your baby examined by a chiropractor if:

-
Labour was long, difficult and/or required a lot of medical interventions
-
You notice imbalances in skull/face shape
-
Difficulties feeding
-
Restricted head or hip movement
-
Excessive crying (colic)
-
Issues sleeping
-
Issues digesting (reflux)

Chiropractic care for infant has a very high satisfaction rate and is incredibly safe.

SPORT & PERFORMANCE
Whether you are a ‘weekend warrior’ or an elite level athlete, getting the most from your body allows you to perform at your best. With a focus on the nervous system and its control over body function, and an understanding of functional biomechanics and anatomy, chiropractors have a significant role to play for sports people. Chiropractic care can assist in the management of injuries as well as help maintain and enhance personal performance. A healthy nervous system will improve:

-
Flexibility
-
Balance
-
Hand eye coordination
-
Mind body connection
-
Optimal muscle recruitment

Participating with optimal control allows you to move better, respond more appropriately and react more effectively, helping you to reach your full potential and get closer to your athletic goals.
